I live a busy life and my good intentions to eat well often seemed to fail due to the temptation of something quick and easy, but ultimately unhealthy and high in calories. I am a shift working nurse in a busy country hospital and all too often I would be grabbing my dinner on my way home at the local service station – not ideal!
I saw my GP for a routine check up in December 2016 and she told me I was at risk of diabetes and heart disease because of my age and weight. So I decided I was going to try to lose weight. One of my friends had recommended Lite n’ Easy and I thought that the convenience would be just what I needed to get back on track.
I soon discovered Lite ‘n Easy not only gave me added convenience but also great variety and nutritious, tasty and portion controlled meals which made it much easier to stick to the meal plan.
I set a goal weight and weighed myself every morning to monitor how I was going. As the weight dropped, my energy levels increased and I felt motivated to increase my physical activity as well. I lost 35 kilos over the next 10 months and I feel so much better now. I have a lot more enery and I love being active.
I set a goal to walk the Great Ocean Walk and did this in December. In May 2018 I walked 38km from Ballina to Byron Bay in a day as part of a fundraising walk for the Westpac Rescue Helicopters. I have horses that I enjoy riding and I am sure they enjoy it more with a lighter rider. None of this would have been possible, or enjoyable at my previous weight.
As a nurse, I am now a keen advocate for others to have a healthy diet and increase their activity level. I have stayed on Lite n’ Easy to help maintain my healthy weight and because the flexible, tasty, convenient, nutritious variety of meals really suits me. I’m not locked into a contract and can pick and choose whatever I feel like each week.
